Abstract

The purpose of this work is characterization of dental implants of Ti-30Ta after biomimetic surface treatment.Ingots will be obtained in arc melting furnace, heat treated and cold forged. Dental impalnts (2 mm of diameter and 2.5mm in length) will be machined and submitted to biomimetic surface treatment. Surface treatment of the implants will be realized according with ur previous work. It was divided in three stages: alkaline treatment (NaOH), heat treatment and immersion in 5xSBF for 24 hours. Implants will be divided into two groups for surface and osseointegration evaluation. The formation of apatite layer will be observed using FTIR, TGA, EDS and X-ray diffraction will be used. For osseointegration analysis, implants will be placed into the femurs of the animals. After healing of 7,14 and 28 days, animals will be sacrificed through an overdosa of CO2.
