Abstract

Proteins are macromolecules extremely important for the most biological processes and play a large number of functions necessary to maintain life. Many of these molecular processes involve interaction with other proteins. The protein-protein interactions (PPI) are fundamental to many biological processes and disease processes. Networks of protein-protein interactions are widely studied in the search for patterns and correlations that the network can provide. This research project aims to investigate patterns present in primary and tertiary structure of viral proteins (HIV, HCV, DEN-1 and DEN-2) and associate these patterns with the high capacity of this type of protein interaction. This project will use data mining techniques (clustering and association rules) to investigate / identify patterns in these viral proteins.
