Abstract The first aim of this study includes evaluating the effectiveness of local treatment of stallion vesiculitis guided by endoscopy regarding kinetics, morphology and membrane integrity of sperm cells and presence of blood cells on the fresh, chilled and frozen semen before and after treatment. Local treatment consists of washing the direct glandular lumen with saline, followed by infusion of antibiotics previously tested in vitro for bacterial sensitivity; The second aim is compare the kinetic parameters, morphology, membrane integrity, apoptosis index, lipid peroxidation and DNA fragmentation of sperm from healthy stallions, who had or not prior contact with secretions from the seminal vesicle. The evaluation will be made with fresh, chilled and frozen semen obtained by artificial vagina, and the removal of vesicular secretion is made using a catheter guided by endoscopy after sexual stimulation of the stallion. | |
