Abstract

The goal of this research project is to discursively approach the sintagma "Culture of Peace" (with the variant "Culture of the Peace", in Portuguese), based on the theoretical board and on the methodology proposed by Alice Krieg-Planque (2010) in the concept formulation "discursive formula", delineated since her thesis publication (KRIEG-PLANQUE, 2000) about the circulation and the uses of the expression "ethnical purification" in the French press from 1980 to 1994, when it was reporting the Balkans War. Analyzing the different interpretations that characterized diverse social actors between which circulates the expression "Culture of Peace", that has been largely mobilized in international and national meetings and documents, comprehending both political and social questions, we'll seek to verify the circulation of the expression and the practices it has represented, doing the hypothesis that the sequence in question can be categorized as a "discursive formula", according to Krieg-Planque parameters. With this research, we'll have the opportunity to test the range and the force of this new theoretic and methodological proposal, thus seeking to give a contribution to the researches on Discourse Analysis that have been trying to work out the production of meaning in liguistical material relation with the media where they inscribe, as well as their circulation flows.
