Abstract

The project aims to understand the nature of new forms of political mobilization in the dance sector in São Paulo. A hypothesis is that the organization of public policies conditions the way that artists produce their work and that only the implementation of new forms of financing for the production of dance will ensure the conditions for its sustainability. It chooses as the object of study the project "a dança se move", an initiative of some professionals in the city of São Paulo interested in replacing the current system of public funding for ongoing programs aimed at promoting dance. The justification for this choice lies in the fact that the existence of this new movement is related to the events of the past 20 years, and much needed to be brought to the knowledge of the new generations, who do not know this fact. Making public the history of two institutions that act as leaders of this movement - the Cooperativa Paulista de Dança, created by Cooperativa Paulista dos Bailarinos Coreógrafos, and Movimento Mobilização Dança - perhaps will help build an understanding to the causes of the current political disengagement of dance professionals, and strengthen group participation. Interviews will be conducted with professionals involved with historical movements as well as meetings with participants of the "A dança se move" movement. These interviews will be read in the light of a bibliography that deals mainly with matters of Policy and Common (AGAMBEN, ESPOSITO, NEGRI&HARDT).(AU)
