Pharmacotherapeutic problems and pharmaceutical interventions in Head and Neak Cancer patients

Abstract

Cancer can be understood as a set of abnormal cells that lose the ability to perform specialized functions and invade surrounding tissues. The head and neck tumors have several places of origin, the most common of which is the epithelium of the upper aerodigestive tract. It consists of the sixth most common cancer worldwide, with an estimated 900,000 cases diagnosed annually; with only 40-50% of patients survive for 5 years. Despite the government effort to increase the research on the implementation of new national guidelines related to the SUS and the Rational Use of Drugs, few research projects to demonstrate the effective role of pharmaceutical care and the adequacy of pharmacotherapy, are being carried out and funded. Given the above, this project aims to characterize the problems pharmacotherapeutic (PFTs) and describe the pharmaceutical interventions (FIs) to solve or prevent performed PFTs during follow-up of patients with Pharmacotherapeutic head and neck cancer receiving anticancer treatment based on cisplatin and radiotherapy. The study will be conducted at the Clinic of Medical Oncology at the Hospital de Clinicas, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Will be used an own method, adapted from the method of workup Pharmacist's drug therapy (PWDT) for the pharmacotherapeutic monitoring, and questionnaires for assessing the quality of life, treatment adherence, patient satisfaction, beyond the application of pain scale - Compartmented Numerical Rating Scales (EGNC) and qualitative scale (EQ).
