Abstract

This project aims to analyze how the debate about the teaching of Philosophy took place in Brazilian philosophical journals, and how this debate reverberated from these publications. We start from the assumption that the theoretical papers on the teaching of Philosophy in Brazil are scarce. Even in this small size, the prospects of discussion about that area, according to our hypothesis, are restricted to four foci, namely: understanding the importance of teaching Philosophy to society, culture and critical for the formation of man; the reflection on the themes and content to be taught and the curriculum; the search for teaching Philosophy's methodological understanding, and demand by opening a new front for the teaching of Philosophy: Philosophy for (with) children. Therefore, we intend to investigate whether our hypothesis is confirmed by an analysis of thirteen Brazilian journals that deal with Philosophy, published between 1930 to 2008, the year of adoption of the Law 11.648/08, which reinstated the requirement of the discipline of Philosophy in the curriculum of secondary school education in Brazil. Thus, mapping out the material selected, we intend to better understand, in effect, what was thought in the discussions about the teaching of Philosophy in Brazil in order to make it a problematic issue today.
