Abstract

Urinary infections cause serious economical losses to Brazilian swine industry related to mortality, sows disposal and antimicrobial costs. In Brazil, studies about molecular characterization of Escherichia coli strains are rare, such as evaluation of resistance pattern. The present study has the goal of characterize virulence factor in E. coli isolated in urine samples of sows, determine the phylogenetic profile and the resistance pattern against antimicrobials used in swine production.
