Abstract Spermatogenesis in mammals is based on self-renewal and differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs ), which are used for different research goals since restablishment of fertility in males until produce the production of animals transgenics. However, the knowledge about the cell biology of SSCs is not very well established and is most scarce for other species other than human or murine, such as bovine. Different factors, such as male's age, can affect the expression of many genes and a specific molecular markers for SSCs and these factors are still little understood. The lack of this knowledge is one of the main reasons that make the biotechnological processes and therapeutics manipulation of SSC inefficient. The hypotesis of present project is: the expression of molecular markers for SSCs purified from bovine pre-pubertal differs from adults. In this way the main goal is to characterize and to compare the gene expression and the presence of molecular markers for bovine SSCs in these two different ages. | |
