Abstract

This project intends to analyze the History of Brazilian literature, by Jose Verissimo, from the rupture with the romantic critic or scientist interpretation by adopting a theoretical eclecticism that makes him suspicious of closed systems and unique classifications. From the ethnological value to the nationalist or scientism sentiment to the aesthetic defense of the construction of the literary canon, José Veríssimo's trajectory is marked by an organism that breeds the discharge of their criteria. Therefore, this research attempts to analyze the perceptions of Indianism, nativism, nationalism and universalism in the History of Brazilian literature, by Jose Verissimo. (AU)
