Abstract

In this project we intend to study the interaction between water soluble quantum dots (CdSe/ZnS and CdTe) and organic compounds (porphyrins TMPyP and TPPS4 and Cyanic dyes) in the presence of nano-organized models of biological structures. The experimental techniques that we intend to use are the optical absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies, both "steady state" and with high time resolution and an integration system with a time resolved fluorescence and fluorescence lifetime imaging. Micelles formed by ionic surfactants (CTAB and SDS), non-ionic (HPS), copolymer (PLURONIC ® F127) and biopolymers (DNA and proteins) will be used as models of biological structures. The project aim is to clarify the effect of interaction and energy transfer process between quantum dots and other fluorophores applied in diagnostic fluorescence and treatment of diseases by photochemotherapy.
