Abstract

There are few detailed knowledge about the morphology of the paca (Cuniculus paca, Linnaeus 1766), the second largest neotropical rodent, and the studies about these animals have attracted the interest of researchers in order to obtain new experimental models and also for the establishment of its rational economic exploration and consequent specie preservation. Given the difficulty found to collect blood by venous puncture on these animals, , this research aims to investigate the morphology of jugular, cephalic and saphena veins of the paca, through the analysis under dissection in order to verify the formation and drainage of these vessels, besides the histological observation of these veins.
