Abstract

The six-minute walking test (6MWT) and stair-climbing test (SCT) are tests that can be influenced by several variables, including peripheral strength and respiratory muscle strength. Objective: associate peripheral strength and respiratory muscle strength with the distance in 6MWT and the time at SCT. Materials and Methods: twenty-five healthy subjects over 18 years old, without a history of heart or pulmonary disease, without unchanged musculoskeletal, neurological, or vascular systems will be studied. The subjects will perform spirometry, manometer, grip test ("hand grip"), the 6MWT, and the SCT. Expected results: we expect to find a correlation between the results of stress tests and measures of peripheral and respiratory muscle strength.(AU)
