Abstract

Studies about metacognition show, almost in its totality, that well-successes students use skills and metacognitive knowledge to achieve its success, which is clearly demonstrated in researches about reading and math thinking performance, among others. Comparatively, less studies have been dedicating interest to investigate the role of metacognition in the musical performance. The metacognitive knowledge stands for the knowledge which a person can learn and deliberate report about internal and external aspects that can affect the learn ship and the performance in a certain task, in a certain circumstance. The aim of this research project is to identify the metacognitive knowledge involved at the musical performance, of expert musicians from classical tradition. To this aim, approximately 15 expert musicians will be interviewed from an erudite entity, helped by a research script. This script will be developed and improved with a pilot-study. This will allow us to approach different aspects of the metacognitive knowledge, such as self-evaluating and self-management. We will validate the metacognitive knowledge within these categories, listening to the records made and the transcriptions done. For that, a selection of parts of the interview will be made, from each topic of the script. The next step will try to identify the naturalist of each answer for each item of the interview. Will be identified the predominance of answers, using a descriptive static analyses to further discussion guided by the theorical material.(AU)
