Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and urolithiasis are highly prevalent diseases in the feline species. In cats is a common occurrence of stones in the urinary bladder, however, there was an increasing number of diagnoses of renal and ureteral stones. Concomitantly, there was a change in the composition of these uroliths, and the calcium oxalate (CaOx) the most representative today. The fact is associated with acidification of commercial diets in recent years. The attempt to reduce the occurrence of struvite uroliths has resulted in the increased occurrence of CaOx uroliths of. This study aims to evaluate the influence of diet on the development of stones located in kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra in cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD). (AU)
