Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the function of central auditory pathways and to analyze and compare the results of the evaluation of auditory evoked potentials of long latency (P300 and MMN) and behavioral assessment of auditory processing in children with normal school performance and children diagnosed with ADHD without speech therapy. Participants 40 children, 20 of both genders, aged 8-12 years, with audiometric thresholds in the normal range, Marilia school students who have satisfactory performance in Portuguese and mathematics for at least two consecutive marking periods and 20 children diagnosed with ADHD and limaires normaidade audiometric patterns and that are not already in the process of speech therapy, both genders, aged 8-12 years. Procedure: P300 and MMN tests and temporal pattern of frequency and duration tests. This study may contribute to future discussions on the occurrence of disturbances of neuroelectric activity in the central auditory pathway children with ADHD, and help in the diagnosis and prognosis of this population.
