Abstract

This research aims to explore how sustainability practices are disseminated within global manufacturing networks. Especially, it seeks to understand how these practices coevolve within HQ-subsidiaries-institutional environment. In order to attend the objectives of this study, a multi-method research will be adopted, split into 2 phases: initially, it is forecasted to address a qualitative exploratory research in order to build a theoretical frame able to explain how developed competencies dynamics in domestic market affect MNE operations and how international competencies developed affect other operations subsidiaries. A second phase, a quantitative approach, will explore the framework developed into a representative database/sample in order to confirm its validity. The main contribution of this research are: (i) the seminal use of Coevolutionary theory on Operations Management research; (ii) development of a robust research of emergent country MNEs, mainly Brazilian MNE and; (iii) create an empirically tested framework which can support managers to better operate its global plants and supply chains.
