Abstract

This research project is in the the area of Sociology of Social Sciences and analyzes the intellectual relations between France and Germany in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, focusing mainly on the reception and influence of the ideas of Wilhelm Wundt in France among academics, more particularly between Émile Durkheim and the group of intellectuais connected do him and to Lannée Sociologique magazine. The historical background is also part of the analysis, at which time the university and scientific relations between defeated France in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 and the victorious Germany will intensify, especially by the admiration of the French academics and intellectuals in relation to the German university system and their scientific production. At that time, French university sought autonomy regarding political and social power.For this study of thinking of the intellectuals of the period, I use as a fundamental method Pierre Bourdieu's theory so I can research the intellectual field of the period, essential to analyze the intellectual and social trajectories of academics who did internship in the laboratory of Wundt, as well as the study of intellectual institutions, and social and political interference that they exerted over the production of knowledge of these intellectuals. I intend to use historical sources, books, documents produced by the university, correspondence, diaries and other productions for private use to better understand their trajectories positions.
