Abstract Bioassay studies with plant derivatives have been conducted with the aim of prospecting new biopesticides or model molecules for the synthesis of synthetic insecticides, especially with different modes/mechanisms of action and less impact on environmental and human health. Among the plant families occurring in the Neotropical Region, Annonaceae is one of the most promising sources of bioactive molecules because of its great diversity of secondary metabolites with biological activity, such as alkaloids, acetogenins, terpenoids, and lactones. However, despite the great diversity of species of Annonaceae in tropical conditions, few studies are available in the literature about the use of derivatives of these plants for economic importance insect pests management, especially for species occurring in agricultural warehouses in Brazilian conditions. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the bioactivity of organic extracts and fractions of different species of Annonaceae on the bean weevil Zabrotes subfascial (Boheman) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae), a major pest species of beans stored under tropical conditions.(AU) | |
