Abstract

This current project aims to investigate the impact of childhood education over the literacy rating, i. e., this is basically a trial to find connection between those children who are literate or not and the fact of being enrolled in an educational establishment for childhood education. In order to achieve this objective, a comparison is to be drawn between literacy rates among 5 to 6 year-old children which are attending classes, and the respective rates for those who are not. Having examined the literacy indicator as the output variable in both different groups (enrolled and not enrolled children), the next process to be done is to compare feature distributions of enrolled children with the respective distribution of children who are not. Thus, in an effort to verify if these groups differ systematically in other attributes that could affect directly the literacy action. The figures to be used are according to the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostras de Domicílio (PNAD) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). (AU)
