Abstract

Stem cells are being studied by several fields of study because of their self-renewal and tissue regeneration characteristics. Recently, mesenchymal cells are becoming crucial in studies for therapeutic applications. In this matter, adipose tissue have demonstrated to be ideal to harvest this kind of cells due to less invasive surgical procedures and to the relative ease harvesting and to high cellular growth. Another promising alternative is harvesting mesenchymal cells from muscle tissue, which also can be obtained in large amounts with minimum discomfort. Safe clinical use of these kinds of cells relies on profound knowledge of cellular kinectis and in vitro and in vivo capability of differentiation. Both, adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) and muscle derived stem cells (MDSCs) have potential to differentiate into mesodermic cells and tissues. Therefore, the aim of this study is to characterize and determine cell markers, specially the lipid profile of stem cells derived from rabbit adipose and muscle tissues, before and after adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation.
