Abstract

Currently, species of Aspergillus genera are responsible by the second cause of invasive fungal infection in tertiary hospital. In the clinical practice, those infections are difficult to diagnostic and the delayed treatment is very frequent. Few medical centers have the capacity to perform the accurate identification of species in this genus of fungi. The resistance cases to antifungal are not common in the contemporaneous medicine, but the number of resistance cases and treatment failure have increased in the last decades. There is no data in Brazil about the prevalence of different species of Aspergillus and its susceptibility profile. This study has as major objective to analyze distribution from clinical/environmental samples of Aspergillus and evaluate occurrence of resistant strains to triazolics. The identification of Aspergillus species will be held by polyphasic approach, including micromorphology analysis, biochemical tests and sequencing of three genes. Moreover, will be held the characterization of antifungal susceptibility by three different methods: microdilution in broth, diffusion disk and E-test. (AU)
