Abstract

The low-power laser has been used in dentistry for several purposes, especially to decrease the healing time of injured bone, being osteoblasts the most important cells in this process. However, for an adequate bone repair it's necessary a good blood supply, and thus vascular proliferation in the region of trauma. Our objective will be to verify the gene expression of VEGF and FGF-2 (angionenicos factors) by RT-PCR after maxillary expansion and application of low power laser on bone midpalatal suture and in the dental pulp of rats that will be submitted to orthopedic disjunction of the midpalatal suture and application of low intensity laser. To analyze the expression of angiogenic factors will be performed RT-PCR and Western Blotting after maxillary expansion and application of low power laser. The non-irradiated groups will serve as controls. All the experiments will be carried out in triplicate and the results will be statistically analyzed.(AU)
