Abstract

The development of catalysts with high activity in hydrodesulfurization process (HDS) is one of the most pressing problems in the petroleum industry. However, one of the current challenges to the development of materials with an interest in HDS processes is the rationalization of reaction mechanisms. Recently, molybdenum sulfide has attracted great attention due to their potential application in catalysis. From the experimental point of view, the study of ceramic powders of molybdenum sulfide nanostructured has great importance for technical applications, especially regarding their catalytic properties. Thus, this project proposes the use of various experimental methodologies applied in obtaining and elucidation of the structures of these compounds prepared by a route solvotermal assisted by microwaves. In cases like these, it is true that quantum chemistry tools are extremely useful in streamlining the molecular level of experimental data. This project is a partnership between the group LIEC (Brazil) coordinated by prof. Elson Longo and Theoretical Chemistry group y computing at the University Jaume I (Spain), coordinated by prof. Juan Andres, focusing mainly on experimental and theoretical understanding of the mechanism of formation and growth of new materials and their properties. (AU)
