Abstract

In the no-till system, liming is questioned, because the corrective should be applied on the soil surface without incorporation, and lime, the most used corrective, moves slowly on the soil profile. Thus there is interest in studying other products to correct soil acidity such as steel slag. The objective of the present study is to assess alterations in the chemical properties of the soil in the function of how steel slag was applied in the implantation of the no till system, compared to lime. The experiment has been carried out in the field at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences / UNESP, Botucatu SP. The treatments consisted of two application methods, incorporated and surface, of seven soil acidity correctives: steel slag; saucepan furnace slag; blast furnace slag; stainless steel slag, wollastonite, dolomite limestone, and calcium dolomite limestone and control without corrective. The dose applied to each corrective was calculated to raise the V% to 70. The experiment has been carried out with soybeans grown in summer and in winter grown oats. The soil samples will be collected 24 months after liming on the layers: 0 - 0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.20, and 0.20-0.40 m for chemical analysis fertility and silicon. In cultures of oats and soybeans will be determined: leaf analysis and yield components.(AU)
