Abstract

This research project is intended to enhance the dance as a cultural object and as a symbolic form of the human body(oral) language. It has the goal of enabling conditions for social inclusion and development of higher psychological function memory in children with Down syndrome. To do so, takes as a theoretical and methodological referential the historical and cultural theory, and argues the need for social integration of individuals with disabilities in regular schools. It also considers that the difficulties and limitations presented by subjects with Down syndrome, especially with regard to the development of higher psychological function memory must be overcome from the collective and inclusive work and in this process, the regular school becomes privilegedFor this purpose will be formed a working group with only 10 (ten) children, including five with Down syndrome and 5 without intellectual disabilities, aged between 7 and11 years, that come from regular and special schools respectively. The activities will be held in LAR (Laboratory for Ludo-Recreational Activities FCT-UNESP Presidente Prudente). Will be held 20 meetings of intervention with these individuals to describe, discuss and relate the processes of memory development, situations of inclusion and teaching strategies in order to provide opportunities and reflections on the role of dance activity, social relationships and mediation of the teacher in this process, having as main objective the development of the child with disabilities. It is believed that this project will create conditions for enhancement of the teacher's educational work as well as the processes of social inclusion and development of higher psychological functions in children with Down syndrome.
