Abstract

The Neurogenic Bladder (NB) in children is a frequent condition in pediatric urology, being responsible for 25% of the most severe clinical problems seen in this specialty. The NB is frequently associated with urinary incontinence, incomplete voiding and urinary tract infection, which enhance the renal damage in this condition. All these severe and undesirable consequences of the neurogenic bladder to the child's health and functionality significantly prejudice the quality of his life. Therefore, it is important to study the factors that can predict the worst renal function and poor quality of life in these children with NB. This study is a transversal and retrospective analysis of many data of pediatric patients with NB that are followed at the Pediatric Urology Ambulatory of Hospital das Clínicas de São Paulo, aiming to study the main factors that may predict the worst prognosis of these patients, especially in terms of renal function. Moreover, the study also aims to study the quality of life of children with NB and their parents.(AU)
