Abstract

The organization of space have been appropriate as a strategy of social control since the XVIII century, and the idea is to separate people of different social class, promoting the distance and the loss of quality of social relationships encountered in Brazilian cities. Nevertheless, the language of violence become the principal theme in daily political speeches, your acts are more and more spread by the mechanisms of communication, increasing the perception of fear to urban violence that seems more close, this fact justify the exercise of social control, materialized in the relentless search for estrangement from the "other", from the unknown. In this sense, we pretend, by this research project, understand the role of closed popular social land divisions in it production of urban space in Brazilian cities, in special in medium and small-sized cities, where we have observed an intense production of these new habitats. This research project is designed to the completion of daily relationships experienced by the residents of closed popular social land divisions, to know the factors that motivate them to leave in these spaces, as the implications of this choice. We elected the cities of Presidente Prudente/SP and Três Lagoas/MS to develop this research, for presenting comparatives possibilities that the differences between the two cities benefits, as the different positions on the national urban structure, the different populational sizes and the different functions on the urban network.
