Abstract

This project presents a research proposal on the stile concitato and the warrior poetic inside 1638 Eighth Book of Madrigals, of Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643). The new style created by the composer reaffirms his position as a stylistic avant-garde musician and place him as musical reference in the first half of the seventeenth century. This proposal aims to establish the issues involved in the creation of this new genre, first used in the work "Combattimento di Tancredi i Clorinda," in 1624, and repeated with great skill at the prima pars of the Eighth Book of Madrigals in 1638. We will outline possible ways to check the musical elements that constitute the stile concitato and his warrior poetic, using the musical and rhetorical analysis as scientific methodology.
