Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate in vitro the influence of different irrigation protocols in the adhesive strength and longevity of anatomic posts cemented with a self-adhesive resin cement. 80 bovine root canals will be instrumented with the aid of largo drills n6, and according to the pre-treatment in radicular dentin, they will be randomly divided into 8 groups (n = 10): G1 (control)-0.9% saline solution; G2-sodium hypochlorite 5.25% + EDTA 17%; G3-sodium hypochlorite 5.25% + EDTA 17% sodium ascorbate + 10%; G4-chlorhexidine gluconate gel 2% + EDTA + 0.9% saline 17%; G5-5.25% sodium hypochlorite; G6-EDTA 17%; G7-sodium ascorbate and G8-10% chlorhexidine gluconate gel 2%. The fiberglass posts will be modeled with composite resin and cemented with the self-adhesive cement RelyX U100 ®. After periods of 1 day and 1 year of storage in water, 2 mm thick sections shall be prepared for each specimen in order to be subjected to the shear mechanical test by extrusion (push out). Subsequently, the fracture mode of each sample will be analyzed by means of a stereoscopic microscope (25 x) and scanning electron microscopy, and then classified in adhesive: (resin/dentin interface), cohesive in dentin, cohesive in resin, cohesive in cement, cohesive in Post or mixed (involving 2 or more substrates). The results obtained will be analysed statistically with significance of 5%.
