Abstract

Global warming caused by anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) has caused climate change. In Brazil, livestock is responsible for issuing more than half of total emissions of CH4 and N2O. The amount of emitted gases and also their relations with the variables of the soil-animal-atmosphere have been little studied in tropical conditions, and assessments of mitigation options as yet unpublished. The objective of this study is to quantify the frequency and amount of excreta produced by grazing cattle, to evaluate the influence of the composition of urine and soil structure on the pattern of N2O and CH4. To evaluate the effect of adding salt in the diet on water intake, urinary excretion, N balance and potential for mitigating emissions of N2O.Quantifying the emissions of CO2, CH4 and N2O in different grazing intensities and emissions of these gases by feces and nitrogen fertilization of pastures and to evaluate the relationship between the emission of greenhouse soil characteristics and weather. The results comprise a database that will be used for the balance of greenhouse gases in pastures of Brachiaria.
