Abstract

Some years ago, the common bean was considered to be a subsistence crop, but because of the advancements in technology and crop research, it is now grown as a cash crop by large-scale commercial farmers. White mold is one of the most destructive diseases of common bean in the world, especially when cultivated in areas of mild temperatures and high soil and air moisture. In fields with a history of white mold, some measures must be taken for the integrated management of pests and diseases. This strategy aims to obtain quality products, reducing and even eliminating the use of pesticides. In general, primary infections caused by this fungus start due to the presence of free water and an exogenous energy source, usually senescent petals of flowers fallen on the ground or retained in plants. Therefore, for efficient control of this fungus, it is necessary to increase flower coverage, especially for those located in the lower parts of the bean plants. The general objective of this work is to estimate the main operational parameters of a boom sprayer for white mold control, seeking to achieve the certification of this culture. This work is carried using a hydraulic sprayer, Falcon Vortex model, Jacto brand, with a 600 L tank, in the laboratory of agricultural mechanization of the department of animal science of the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering, on the city Pirassununga - SP.(AU)
