Abstract Aquatic macrophytes are extremely relevant in water ecosystems and are directly related to water quality and with physical, chemical and biological factors. These plants in the best growth and development conditions are considered harmful and thus the need for control and management methods is required. Current long-term analysis is divided into three parts. The first and second part has been undertaken during the execution of the Scientific Initiation Program with the support of the FAPESP (2009/51852-1). Current project comprises the third part which consists in investigating the influence of macrophytes under the planktonic community in artificial systems. Indications on the trophic state degree, the quality of natural feed available to fish, and the conditions of water quality in tanks during macrophyte infestation and absence may be provided. | |
