Abstract

Multiple sclerosis results of two mechanisms such as inflammation and neurodegeneration. The neurodegeneration is observed even in the early disease. The immunomodulators such as type I interferon or glatiramer acetate act mainly in the inflammatory response. However, it was previously demonstrated that glatiramer acetate can stimulate the production of BDNF and others neurotrophins indicating the possible neuroprotective effect. In the present study, canine with sequel of canine distemper virus infection will be treated with glatiramer acetate, in order to demonstrated whether this immunomodulator presents neuroregenation effect.
