Abstract

Use of ovulation inductors, such as hCG and deslorelin, is a common practice in equine reproduction. LH is a hormone responsible for maturation, ovulation and luteinizing of the dominant follicle and its plasmatic concentrations might be related with follicle's walls irrigation. The present study will have as main objective to evaluate the alterations in blood perfusion of dominant follicles due to the use of induction hormones and its temporal relationship with the plasmatic profile of LH. A total of 24 mares will be divided in three groups (n=8 mares/group) according with the ovulation induction treatment: a) Deslorelin Group (1,5mg of GnRH); b) hCG Group (2500 UI of hCG) and c) Control Group Saline (2mL of NaCl 0,9%). Treatments will be done when a dominant follicle with a diameter e 35mm associated with uterine edema are present. The moment immediately previous to the treatment will be considered as H0. Blood collection from the jugular vein and Doppler ultrasonography exam of the dominant follicle will be done to evaluate, respectively, the plasmatic concentration of LH and the follicular blood flow. The parameters will be evaluated every hour between intervals H0-H12 and H30-H48. Additionally, the same parameters will be collected every six hours from H12 to H30
