Abstract We will to study the dynamics of small molecules moving under the action of external potentials, possibly chaotic. The work will focus on the energy transfer between collective degrees of freedom (like the motion of the center of mass or rotations around it) and vibrational degrees. The external potential couples the motion of the center of mass with the internal degrees of freedom. If the latter is sufficiently large they may act as an external reservoir to the former, similar to what seems to happen in the C60 molecule, where this type of interaction leads to a significant reduction in the interference observed in double slit experiments. We will investigate under what conditions this effect occurs in the classical formalism and also study the dynamics of the systems in the semiclassical regime. (AU) | |
