Abstract

The agitation is a process that supplies movement to the liquid and it aids the accomplishment of the chemical processes and physical processings of different applications. The agitation systems vary mainly in function of the geometry of the vase and of the type and impellers number (agitators), besides variables related to the properties of the fluid and the speed of rotation of the impeller. These variables are used to calculate the potency and the torque responsible for the operational cost of the process and overhead costs of the tank, respectively. In the chemistry industry two stagger methods are used for mixture tanks: potency/volume (P/V) and torque/volume (Tq/V). This project intends to use the criterion of potency/volume extrapolation for scale-up of mixture tanks in order to estimate the potency consumed by a extrapolated mixture tank starting from a tank of 50 liters, with Computational fluid dynamic's use (CFD). In parallel project to this, also of scientific initiation, other student will study the criterion of stagger torque/volume. In both cases will be studied the extrapolation criteria for an axial impeller type sloping straight shovels to 45 ºC (PBT45) and an radial impeller type Rushton of six shovels. This study will try to analyze both stagger methods maintain the agitation level according to the initial tank of 50 liters. With the results, the two studies will compare the stagger and they will be indicated if a criterion is superior to the other in terms of maintenance of the agitation level in the stagger.(AU)
