Abstract

Memory of previous interactions is an important component of animal interactions, being essential for phenomena such as con-specific recognition, parental care, bonding of reproductive pairs and hierarchy maintenance. However, most current sociality models do no take it into account. This work aims to use individual based modeling to generate groups of individuals with different kinds of memory and initial spatial distributions, to simulate interactions between these individuals, and to analyze the effects memory has on group formation, controlling for the effects of initial individual distribution and density.
