Abstract

This study intends to investigate, from a historical and ethnographic perspective, the social process of institutionalization and functioning of the Chamber of People's Artist. The Room of Popular Artist (SAP) is a program of the National Center for Folklore and Popular Culture (CNFCP), linked to the Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) of Rio de Janeiro. It is a social space for short-term exposures facing the production distribution and marketing of artists and craft communities. The study will be developed through an ethnography of intellectuals involved with this program and an anthropology of objects, which aims to track the trajectory of an object exposed SAP in order to investigate the status of metamorphosis by which that object is.
