Abstract

This thesis develops an interpretative analysis on the social process of institutionalization and organization of the Popular Artist's Room, between 1983 and 2013. The Popular artist's room (SAP) is a program of the National Center for Folklore and Popular Culture (CNFCP) Rio de Janeiro, linked to the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN). It is an institutional program that, among several actions, organizes an exhibition space focused on documenting, disseminating and commercializing the production of artists and craft communities. The study was based on institutional documents, analysis of catalog texts, interviews with institutional actors and study of the textual production of these actors. In this way, it was possible to map the relations between politics, culture and heritage in order to interpret the organization of this specific art market (AU)
