Abstract

The Family Grant Program is used as an example that worked to reduce poverty and social inequality by major international institutions of repute like the UN and IMF. In Brazil is criticized for its assistance nature. It is possible that these criticisms carry a historical dimension of a political culture that demoralizes direct from the social state, as one of the central features of social inequality is unequal access to consumer goods from the collective state. In our case, there is a social construction of the demoralization of the state (and public affairs) and as a consequence of social rights from these. By collecting speeches on Family Grant Program (opponents and defenders) and sociologically analyze these, we can understand the social representations that motivate these critical analyzes on the program. Speeches of advocates will also be considered in order to understand the problem globally. (AU)
