Abstract

The aim of this project is the chemical characterization of the lignin from mealed sugarcane straw. The following steps were defined to the project: a) obtainment of the lignin from straw in a ball mill using dioxane: water; b) perform the complete characterization of the lignin (methoxyl, acids, and total, phenolic and aliphatic hydroxyls);c) determine the content of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and ashes in the natural straw and in the obtained lignin. d) determine the C9 formulae of the lignin.
