Abstract

This research proposal consists of the study and recognition of microscale heterogeneities in sandstones from a fluvial depositional system, and the relation of these heterogeneities with the deversity of facies and architectural elements found in the São Sebastião Formation (Cretaceous, Central Tucano Basin). The research will comprise detailed petrographic studies aiming at the recognition of textures, main types of porosity and types of cements present in each representative sample of the facies that compose the depositional system, with the main goal of characterizing the microscale heteregeneities and theis relation with depositional facies. The results might be used as a predictive tool for the tridimensional distribution of the proprieties controling the migration of fluids (hydrocarbon and water) in reservoirs formed in depositional systems with similar characteristics to this case study.(AU)
