Abstract

From the examination of the documents produced by the Instituto de Organização Racional do Trabalho (IDORT) between the 1930's and 1960's in Brazil, whose collection and analysis integrate into our PhD study in progress, we have become aware of the close relationship between the Brazilian Institute and the counterpart entities abroad. Besides Brazil, countries such as France, United States of America, Belgium, Germany, Holland, among others, entities created in the first half of the twentieth century with the purpose to study, disseminate and apply the principles of Scientific Organization of Work in organizations. These entities have created an intense exchange of information that helped strengthen their practices of rationalization ways of management and organization of work in their respective countries. Within this context, we note that two French entities - Comité National de L´Organisation Française (CNOF) and the Commission Générale d'Organisation Scientifique (CEGOS) - like IDORT, became interested in the communication activity in companies as a way to support the process of rationalization of work in organizations. Since our purpose is to examine the performance of IDORT as the activity of communication strategies for rationalizing the work of organizations through their documents, the collection of material in France - with regard to entities CNOF and CEGOS, main objective of this proposal for a research abroad - will provide subsidies to more consistent understanding, in comparative terms, the relationship what was the local performance of the Brazilian entity and what was its relationship with other international organizations. Just as it is contemplated in the project's main thesis, the examination of this material will be conducted based on the methodological possibilities offered by Discourse Analysis, which will provide us to understand the ideological and discursive formations of the speeches of these entities and a possible approach between them.
