Abstract

Rex1 is an important and specific marker to pluripotent embryonic stem cells for murine and human. Rex1 has high homology to the DNA binding domains of YY1 and YY2, indicating a possibility that these three proteins compartirem functions as both the regulatory sequences of DNA.This research group have demonstrated roles in regulating transcription Rex1 via retroviral elements. Also we have proved that both YY1 as YY2 participate in similar processes. The expression of retroviral elements is restricted to the germline, embryos in pre-implantation and placenta. Therefore, we assume that the regulated expression mechanisms are operative also in SSC. Among the three homologous family, is YY2 that is expressed at higher levels in SSC. We propose to address the identification of genes regulated by Yy2 in SSC in murine and test the use of "reporters" directed by retroviral elements. This approach aims to identify markers of SSC mammals. (AU)
