Abstract

This is a research proposal about the relations between the political and cultural writings of Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937) and Piero Gobetti (1901-1926), especially taking as a starting point their interventions in the journal Il Grido del Popolo (1917-1918 ), Avanti! (Piemont section) (1918-1920), L'Ordine Nuovo (1919-1925), L'Unita (1924-1926), Energie Nuove (1918-1921) and Rivoluzione Liberale (1922-1925). The research aims to identify possible translations between thinking and thinking properly political culture of the two Italian intellectuals, especially in the dialogue established over the years of intense workers mobilizations in Turin in the period known as rosso biennium. The focus will be, despite the different perspectives of these two scholars, the profound and commom cultural reflection about the italian context, which is expressed in the design of state formation in modern Italy and its correspondence to: a) the national-popular element in opposition to cosmopolitanism of Italian culture and attitude of the intellectuals to the masses ahead of the peninsula and b) the need to take cultural criticism on its political dimension, and therefore historical.
