Abstract

The research proposal aims to analyse the formation of the regionalisation of banking credit in Brasil between 2000 and 2010. The key research hypothesis we want to address is that relational territory is not neutral with respect to the regionalisation of finances. This is a justified research question as accelerated growth of banking credits in the last decade resulted in a new regionalisation of finances which had a strong impact on national development. The methodology of this thesis employs both theoretical and empirical analysis in answering the central hypothesis. The theoretical approach is based on three complementary pillars in the study of regional finances: Post-Keynesian theory, rational economic geography and renovation cartography. The empirical approach uses a statistical analysis on basis of multiple regressions, cartographic elaboration and graphical modelling. This union of these different methodologies, we believe, is most appropriate to perform the interdisciplinary analysis to answer the central research hypothesis. (AU)
