Abstract

The objective of the proposed research is to study the production and processing of milk in the city of Presidente Bernardes, located in Microregion Geographic Presidente Prudente, in the period between 1990 and 2010. The milk production chain has great relevance in the Brazilian scenario, both for its nutritional and socioeconomic importance. In Microregion Geographic Presidente Prudente, in particular, in the municipality of Presidente Bernardes, milk production is of great importance in generating income for small farmers. Thus, we intend to understand the production and processing of milk in the micro-region, especially in the municipality selected, trying to look into the problems faced by small farmers as well as alternatives that will ensure the economic viability in the face of changes in rural and hence milk production.
