Abstract

Performance of employees is directly related with health and environmental factors associated to workplace, as example lighting and absenteeism rates. Although, such links are still not well understood. Light interferes on satisfaction with work and influences important biological functions in humans. High levels of illuminance at eyes level can increase visual activities, alertness and well-being. However, recent researches have demonstrated that only vertical illuminance near human eye has been measured, while visual field and head movement are not actually taken into account. The objective of this research is verifying influences of luminances and illuminances distribution on visual field of employees working in production area of industrial building in Metropolitan Region of Campinas, SP. So, it will be analysed the severity of glare in visual field, by questionnaires, High Dynamic Range Images (HDR) and by use of "LuxBlick", a device composed by glass frame and lighting sensors. Research will analyse too possible correlation between influences of lighting systems on absenteeism rate. Results obtained will be analysed considering the integration among qualitative and quantitative aspects of lighting in order to attempt human requirements. The research now proposed is original, pertinent and relevant. It will contribute with advances in the comprehension of the importance of industrial lighting and its direct relation with visual comfort. And more, it will be pioneer in Brazil in the application of a technique yet in experimental phase in Europe, and whose deployment will be possible in function of a deal among UNICAMP and TU Ilmemau, in Germany, institution now contacted by the candidate and his tutor, in order to establish a partnership.
