Abstract

This project deals with the study of the introduction of lignin in cellulose acetate membranes obtained from sugarcane bagasse cellulose, aiming the removal of heavy metals. Three types of membranes will be produced: without lignin incorporation, with natural lignin and with oxidized lignin. For the membranes production, the phase inversion technique will be employed. For the incorporation of lignin, the better process conditions will be studied. Membranes will be characterized and tested at flow and permeability properties to find the better conditions in respect to time and pressure. After the optimization, the membranes will be tested at ions removal (Cu+2, Pb+2 and Cd+2) by using reverse osmosis. (AU)
